UK weather: Snow and ice warnings issued by Met Office as -12C forecast

November has so far been exceptionally mild with temperatures 3-6C above average.
But that has now changed as a northerly wind is dragging cold Arctic air across the UK with temperatures now falling 3-6C below the mid-November average.
Cold-health alerts are in force across the Midlands and northern England until 08:00 GMT Friday.
These alerts are mainly for health and social care services, warning of "significant" impacts to more vulnerable members of the community.
Extra services may be required to deal with the colder weather.
Rain is forecast to spread south and east across the UK on Monday night and Tuesday, with the air is cold enough for this to turn to snow for some.
A yellow weather warning for snow has been issued for northern and eastern Scotland starting at 03:00 GMT on Tuesday and valid until 18:00.
There could be as much as 5-10cm of snow accumulating over the highest ground (above 400m) but even down to lower levels 2-5cm is forecast.
The snow could make some higher routes impassable and there could be some disruption to rail journeys.
During Tuesday there could also be hill snow in the North Pennines and the North York Moors.
Women's World Cup qualifying: England to host Spain at Wembley in April

Euro 2025 winners England will host world champions Spain at Wembley in April for a 2027 Women's World Cup qualifier.
Spain beat the Lionesses in the 2023 World Cup final, but England gained revenge when they beat them on penalties in the Euro 2025 final in July to retain their European title.
The two sides will meet again in Group A3 on Tuesday, 14 April, with an evening kick-off time to be announced in due course.
"Spain are of course one of the best teams in the world and to play them at Wembley again is exciting," said Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman.
"We know from the Euro final just how tough they are to play against, and there's a great deal of mutual respect between the two teams."
Alongside Spain, England have been drawn against Iceland and Ukraine.
Qualifying for the next World Cup, which will be held in Brazil, follows the same format as the Nations League and is split into three tiers.
Only the four group winners in League A will automatically qualify for the finals, with the remaining teams having to go through the play-offs for the remaining eight places.
"It's a challenging group but our objective is to qualify for the World Cup, that is what we are fully focused on from now. We hope our fans can help us take one step closer to Brazil at Wembley in April," Wiegman added.
Information around venues and tickets for England's other two home games will be announced in due course.
Anthony Joshua v Jake Paul fight scheduled for 19 December

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will fight YouTube star Jake Paul in a professional bout on 19 December.
Britain's Joshua, the 36-year-old former two-time unified heavyweight champion, will take on the YouTuber-turned-boxer at Kaseya Center in Miami.
The fight, which will be streamed live on Netflix, will consist of eight three-minute rounds.
The bout is a replacement fight for Paul, who was scheduled to take on Gervonta Davis in an exhibition earlier this month but the fight was cancelled because of a lawsuit filed against Davis by his ex-girlfriend.
"This isn't an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day," said 28-year-old Paul.
"When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no-one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title. To all my haters, this is what you wanted."
Speculation that Joshua would fight Paul was initially denied, but he will return to the ring against the American for the first time since being knocked out by then-IBF champion Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
"I took some time out and I'm coming back with a mega show. It's a big opportunity for me," said the 2012 Olympic gold medallist.
"Whether you like it or not, I'm here to do massive numbers, have big fights and break every record whilst keeping cool, calm and collected.
"Mark my words, you'll see a lot more fighters take these opportunities in the future. I'm about to break the internet over Jake Paul's face."

Vital supplies of US liquefied natural gas are due to start flowing into war-ravaged Ukraine this winter via a pipeline across the Balkans. The deal was announced after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens on Sunday. Greece is working to increase the flow of American LNG to its terminals to "replace Russian gas in the region", Mitsotakis said recently. The European Commission plans to ban all imports of Russian gas to EU member states by the end of 2027, arguing revenue from such sales funds Russia's war in Ukraine. Zelensky is currently in France, where he President Emmanuel Macron signed a letter of intent to buy up to 100 Rafale jets.
Fighting continued overnight, with six people reportedly killed in Russian attacks in the Kharkiv, Kherson and Donetsk regions of Ukraine. Russia's military said it had taken control of three more Ukrainian villages - one each in the Kharkiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. None of the reports could be independently verified. Speaking earlier in Athens, Zelensky was quoted as saying that deliveries of US LNG would begin in January. "We rebuild each time the Russians destroy but this truly requires time, much effort, equipment and, regarding gas... imports to compensate for the destruction by the Russians of our own production," he said. "Greece is becoming an energy security provider for your homeland," Mitsotakis told the Ukrainian president. Zelensky said Kyiv had allocated funds for gas imports from European partners and banks under European Commission guarantees, as well as from Ukrainian banks, to help cover imports through to March at a cost of nearly €2bn (£1.8bn; $2.3bn), according to news agency Reuters. Since 2015, when it stopped buying Russian gas directly, Ukraine has been receiving supplies from various EU states. The Soviet-era Trans-Balkan pipeline links Ukraine to LNG terminals in Greece via Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria. There have been fears of an energy crisis in Ukraine this winter after sustained Russian attacks on its energy facilities, notably thermal power plants. The UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs has issued a formal warning, saying "the approaching winter poses new risks for Ukrainians... as intensified attacks on energy networks undermine efforts to maintain warmth in homes, schools and health centres".
